Do you ever have that moment when you look around your house and realize everything is white? When we first moved in all the walls got a nice coat of white paint, which included all of our bathrooms. Fast forward a year, and the color is starting to wear on me. We have similar small vanities in all three bathrooms of our house. After contemplating it for a few days I realized I could paint one of them… I mean why not? If it didn’t look good I could always redo it!
Keep it simple..
When most people think of redoing a bathroom it involved some major work. Truth is this bathroom is slatted to be redone at some point in the future, but we have slowed down on major projects this year. Instead I decided on some simple things to make the room look and feel different. Paint, hardware, and a few accessories go a long way. This new look will certainly hold me over until I design our dream guest bathroom.

Simple steps to refresh…
- First things first, remove the cabinet fronts and all the hardware
- Wipe everything down so you have a clean surface to work with
- Pick your favorite paint, I used Behr, Limousine Leather as mine
- Spray paint your hardware, I sprayed both my hinges and my screws gold
- Pick your favorite paint brush and a foam roller for smooth surfaces and get to painting
- Two coats and your done!
The combination of the black and gold is something I new I would love, I used a paintbrush in all the crevasses and then smoothed everything out with a foam roller. Take your time, this took me two coats over the course of two days. I wanted to make sure my first coat was thoroughly dried before starting my second coat. I didn’t sand or remove the paint that was already on the vanity, in truth it may have come smoother if I had, but I’m more then pleased with how it all turned out.

Cabinet Harware
Cabinet hardware can make a room. After a trip to Hobby Lobby I was looking for a better fit. I had always assumed when the day came when I needed hardware I would find it in that amazing aisle of knobs. Unfortunately, what I was looking for wasn’t there. So Amazon was next.
I needed knobs for the medicine cabinet and handles for the bottom cabinet. Here are the links for the ones I chose:
I have to say I was pleased with the cost and quality. Next time your working on a simple refresh check out Amazon for some of those harder to find looks.
At the end of the day…
When all was said and done, I was more then impressed with how affordable this project was. For the cost of a gallon of paint, some hardware and a few items from At Home I was able to give this bathroom a whole new look.
So, if your stuck inside and looking for something to try, grab a gallon of paint head into your bathroom and go for it!
